Jared Mees and the Grown Children: Shake
Yep, it's an odd one. But did you really think it was going to go off like that?
Alecks Awlkr - Breathless
Glacial d*step, a departure from the more heady, jump-up wobble stuff. This tune courtesy of Illtronic.
ASAP Rocky - Get Lit
This twisted hip hop comes courtesy of Winny Cooper's round-up of 2011 ( http://winniecooper.net/2011/12/winnies-top-albums-of-2011/).
September track of the month (Via Dax)
This is what the big man has to say: "enjoy this track, its like a
summer breeze gently blowing through your hair."
Gui Boratto - Stems from Hell
I'll admit it. I didn't really dig his last album. I tried, I really
wanted to, but found it far too flighty.
dank teutonic night rather than breezy Brazilian Sunday afternoon.
There's a toughness that doesn't sink too far into self-indulgent
head-nod thanks to the rinses. They rise, but snap atonally, which
only adds to the suspense. Digging the whole album so tough to pick out one stand-out track but
finally settled on the 'Stem from Hell' opus. Enjoy the ride.
Little Dragon - those Swedes know what's up
Electro-popsters Little Dragon were in NYC last night. They were sold out, I was burnt out, so I'll have to wait till next time.
Track of the moment: Barem's Sticky
OK, so it's not new but loving this deep proto-funk from a time when great swathes of Europe were in the grip of the Minimal movement.
Unfoundsound capitalized by exposing fresh Latin American talent such as Barem.
Natalia's Song: like dubstep having a drink with Kate Bush
Someone's figured out how to give euphoria a sombre poignancy. Wouldn't you know his name's Zomby
Tracks of the month from Dax
Track of the month: Hot Mess (Herr Johann Remix)
Messy soul-funk that has a severe identity crisis as the track waxes on. And I don't just mean the falsetto croonings. One to keep the dancefloor on it's toes.
